Who Are You? (Who who, who who)
I'm a direction builder.
As a strategist, I help build direction for organizations.
As a coach, I help build direction for people.
Currently, I'm essentially a digital nomad, having various places that have become 'home bases', including San Francisco, Austin, New York, London and Hong Kong. I'm always rediscovering my definition of home. (This is part of my life design.)
I have traveled to 60 countries, 6 continents and 1 planet. And counting...
I began my professional career at Deloitte Consulting, the world's largest consulting firm, and worked in management consulting for five years before starting my M.B.A. program. As a consultant, I worked with well-known companies (such as Disney, McKesson, and GoPro) to build direction through delivering technology strategy and implementing technology solutions. I am continuing my corporate career post-M.B.A. as a Management Strategist at Thomson Reuters.
I earned a B.A. in Business Economics and Accounting at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa and with College Honors. I will be completing an M.B.A. (Masters in Business Administration) at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. I have also spent significant time studying at the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Hong Kong. My academic experiences have provided a foundation for building direction among my various interests.
My interest in life coaching stems from over a decade of interest in professional and personal development. During my sophomore year, I was President of the UCLA chapter of Future Business Leaders-Phi Beta Lambda, one of ten organizations identified by the U.S. Department of Education as a leading career development organization. During my second year at Deloitte, I founded Deloitte Career Connections, which brings together Deloitte professionals with students who aspire to become first-generation college graduates. I continued my efforts to build mentoring initiatives through founding Sparkr.org, which aimed to combine a speaker series with community dialogues, which we called "Communal Mentoring". (As of 2016, Sparkr is on hiatus.)
At business school, I began my OpenDialogues initiative, an inter-group dialoguing forum to create a platform for stronger engagement among our constituencies, with the purpose of rising up the underrepresented, people whose demographics are not sufficiently represented within the ranks of American leadership, from government to business. The Voter Participation Center calls this group the "Rising American Electorate", which makes up the majority of eligible voters but are much less likely to be represented in the polls. While voting is an direct measure of representation and engagement, we can improve our engagement in between elections and continuously be in dialogue, with the vision of creating a more cohesive and inclusive American society.
